This page presents free CSET Practice Test resources that you can utilize in preparing for the CSET Multiple Subjects exam. The CSET is a challenging test that covers a broad range of subject matter, from math and science to history and literature. To diagnose your current subject matter knowledge, you should take a CSET practice test such as those presented below, and it is recommended that you take several practice tests if possible in order to discover patterns as to what areas you are consistently performing well or poorly in.
The first resource we suggest is the CSET Practice Test available on the CSET Tutor website. This online exam is broken into three subtests, just like the actual exam. The CSET Multiple Subjects Subtest 1 Practice Test covers reading, language, literature, world history, U.S. history, California history, and political and social science. The CSET practice test for Subtest 2 covers math and science, more specifically number sense, algebra, geometry, and statistics and probability, biology, geology, meteorology, chemistry, physics, and astronomy. The CSET practice test for Subtest 3 covers music, dance, visual and performing arts, physical education, and human development.
Another good resource for online CSET practice tests is the CSET homepage located at cset.nes.com. This practice test may be taken online or printed out as a paper-based version using Adobe Acrobat reader. The Multiple Choice section is self-graded, but the constructed response questions cannot be graded, so while they are good practice, you won't actually know how well you did answering the questions on this portion of the test unless you have a tutor review your responses with you, which is an option you may wish to consider.
If, after taking several CSET practice tests, you find that you are weak in one of more areas, you may wish to consider purchasing a CSET study guide or enrolling in a CSET Prep Class.
